How the Dual Dummy Works

In structured gundog training, some dogs develop a preference or a “mouth-shyness” toward specific materials. The Dual Dummy addresses this by offering a “safe” canvas surface alongside a natural rabbit skin section. As the dog engages with the dummy, they are naturally exposed to the scent and feel of cured fur while maintaining the familiar grip of canvas. This gradual exposure desensitises the dog, building the confidence required to handle 100% fur-covered dummies or real quarry later in their development.

NOTE: The puppy dual dummy is Sporting Saint, the 1/2 and 1 lb dummies may be Sporting Saint OR Muntjac Trading, depending on product availability. We will choose for you. If you have a specific preference between the brands, please contact us prior to purchase. The toggle on the Sporting Saint is plastic, the toggle on the Muntjac Trading is wood. The throwing toggles can be removed to prevent toggle retrieving.

The basic requirement for training is the so-called soft mouth, which prevents the wild animals or the dummies from being damaged by a solid bite, as a result they are unusable. Choose wisely right size of the dummy for your dog´s mouth, too small size could be dangerous. Dummy is used for training purposes, competitions and working tests.

Never leave your dog with the dummy unattended, to avoid damage to the product, possible damage and possible injury to you and your dog. Regularly check the condition of the product, if it is not damaged. In case of any damage, please do not use the product! During lifetime of the product, there can occur some change of colour shade, which do not have affect on its use. We do not recommend exposing the product to direct sunlight, which leads to changes in the colour shade and properties of the material.
